Finding Direction: The Wind Vane Chronicles

Time Out For Levity & Humor

September 9th, 2005 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Those of you who are regular readers know my blog is "normally" a continual repository of lightheartedness and humor with just a sprinkle of serious posts here and there "occasionally." Well, okay, maybe more than that. Fairly often sometimes, but not by choice.

Anyway, I like to keep it fun to cheer others on along the way.

However, many of you have arrived of late and have only seen my posts piled high with calamity, uncertainty, concern and worry. And rightly so. But my sense of humor has been there all along, however buried it must have seemed, and has re-emerged once again.

Thus, this morning when I surveyed the front page of the Abilene Reporter-News, I was happy to see (and actually chuckled at) the following headline on a short AP wire story about some new scientific studies concerning the "evolution of" the human brain.

In fact, it was quite a pronouncement on our society’s current state, I thought, by the Reporter-News’ editor, who thought it up.

But, that’s just my humble opinion, so I’ll copy the headline below to let you each decide for yourself. Just keep in mind I didn’t write it, people, and take no credit for its appearance. So, don’t "shoot the messenger" if you don’t agree it’s funny.

In other words, keep your comments printable! If you chuckle, too, though, do let me know. I’m not so self assured as to not hope my funny bone isn’t too far off when it comes to the rest of my peers.

Very funny and very true! I don’t even try to understand her but work very hard to stop my 7 year old from wanting to dress and act like her.

That’s great. Fortunately, Britney doesn’t have too much influence on our young ones here in Togo. I know what you mean about retaining your sense of humor. I almost felt irreverant for my post yesterday.
Oh, thanks for the specific info on what Tammany Oaks is doing. I received a message from Tod that morning. I know a lot of people are doing a lot of good things, but, as you know, Tod is a great organizer and motivator, so I think folks can have a lot of confidence helping that way.

I knew I liked you! I laughed out loud at that myself — and had just the day before posted to my blog about a moronic quote I had seen from Brittney regarding her upcoming baby delivery.

Posting here on Monday morning — and will be praying for your trip tomorrow. Wish you could spend the night somewhere half-way. That is truly an eternal trip!
