Finding Direction: The Wind Vane Chronicles

I’m Going Home!!!!

September 11th, 2005 · 16 Comments · Uncategorized

Today my two weeks of mostly sleepless nights caught up with me and I spent the entire afternoon after worship at Hillcrest with my mom napping in the recliner in the den.

Then, Tom called, waking me up, to tell me he’d made it back down to the house for only the third time since we left more than two weeks ago, and to tell me the power had just come on a few hours ago and that I CAN COME HOME!!!!.

I’m very excited (as is he), beyond words, but also dread the lengthy, grueling 10 to 11 hour trip from Abilene to Slidell I’m going to have to make Tuesday.

I’m going to have to spend tomorrow getting some Rx’s together, getting some supplies and getting all of my things together and in my car ready to go so I can get up early Tuesday morning to make the trek.

Once I get on the road, there will be no place to stop to spend the night anywhere (due to the circumstances) from half way there on home, so I’ll have to keep driving until I get there.

So, I am asking all of you who drop by here tonight, tomorrow and/or Tuesday to please, please pray for me that I will feel well enough to do this and that I will have a safe journey the entire way. It is going to be very hard and I am not looking forward to the trip at all, but have no choice.

God has sustained me thus far, so I pray He will continue to do so now. Please join me in prayer throughout the hours from now until Tuesday and the long hours of that day until I can arrive home.

We have much work for the Lord left to do when I arrive.

Please leave me your comments and your prayers as you pass by here on your busy way if you would and I will keep all of those close to my heart.

Thank you. Thank you all, more than you know. And, again, thanks.

    Dear Dee,
It will be a privilege to pray for your safety and well being as you travel back to your home. I will pass this on to our Prayer Chain at my home congregation in Fresno, CA and we will all lift you up in prayer.
    In Christ,

    Dear Dee,
I can feel your excitement about going home and am so happy for you that you will be reunited with Tom soon.
You have been on my mind though I am not one for writing much. Just want you to know that I’ll be praying for you as you make the trip back. You will not be alone. Isaiah 41:10 “Do not be afraid for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you.”

Father, please give Dee a special measure of your strength and build a wall of safety about her as she begins her travel home. Keep her spirits high and guard her health that she may be your servant when she arrives. Bless her and her family as they struggle through this time. Give them an extra measure of your Spirit as they reach out their hands and hearts to those who they have an opportunity to serve.

    In Jesus Name, Amen

“I’m going home.” These are beautiful words. Be careful and indulge in a few Starbucks (or popcorn) along the way to keep you going. Blessings and prayers.

You can come by way of I 45 South and come to Beaumont, Texas and stay the night with me!

I have been asking for an evacuee to stay in my home and as of yet have not had any takers. We are about five hours from New Orleans and it would help break up your trip. I have a four bedroom home and I call my guest bedroom a B & B room. I would love to have you. I read your posts often and we probably know some mutual people.

If you are interested in doing this, call me. You might come this way anyway, in case you need the rest and you would have a place to stop. It is about 8 hours from Abilene to Beaumont and then like I said four to five hours to New Orleans.

Talk with Gina Lewis at Highland and she can discuss this with you and she knows us well!

    I will be praying anyway!

Dee: So glad you’re finally able to go home! Be assured of my prayers as you drive tomorrow. May you sense the presence of the Lord in a very special way as you drive. I trust that the re-union with Tom will be sweet.

    Standing with you,

    David

    Father,
Watch over Dee as she makes her trip home. Send an army of angels to lead the way and give her traveling mercies.
Keep her spirits up and her body alert, and keep her safe in your amighty arms.

I just fell upon your blog, and am thankful to meet someone who is in MS to pray for and to hear first hand from a fellow-believer of how to pray for you and those around you. You are inspiring despite this journey you are going through. I will be back to visit. THANK YOU for sharing.
