Interview With Danny Dodd

This week's interview is with fellow blogger Danny Dodd of "New Adventures of an Old Preacher", who's the minister at Gateway Church of Christ in Pensacola, Florida.

Basic Interview Questions
1. What's your favorite scripture.
Ephesians 3:20-21. Just awesome.
2. Vital Statistics: - Month, Day, (Year Optional) & Place you were born
October 1, 1958, Greenville, MS
3. Names of spouse & Children and their dates of birth:
Terri: 9/16
kids- Taylor: 2/14
Jordan: 9/9
and I have one daughter Natalie: 4/19
4. What brought you to where (the location) you are now?â€
The
Lord. We never ever envisioned living in Florida but it was apparent
that is where he wanted us once we visited the Gateway church.
5. Where all have you lived in your life and when?
Born
in Mississippi and lived there for most of my life (Greenville,
Kosciusko for college, Drew, Fulton, Brandon and back to Kosciusko to
work for the college) The only exception was three years in Delhi, LA
for my first preaching job until Terri and I moved to Vilnius,
Lithuania in 2001. We moved back and to Pensacola in November 2003.
6. What kind of work do you do?
I am the preaching minister at Gateway Church of Christ. It is just who I am.
7. What do you love most about your work:
The chance to see God work in so many ways and to be involved with his people and those seeking him.
8. What do you like least about your work:
Politics- every church has it, but thankfully Gateway has less of it.
9. Who has been the most influential person in your life & briefly why:
Wow.
I cannot name just one. I would start with my grandmother and continue
through many, many folks God has brought my way to serve as mom, dad,
brother, sister and friend over the years.
10. Any hidden talents:
Nope- they are all out there. lol
11. Little known fact about me:
I have written a book that was published- in India!

Part 3 - Thought Questions
1. What is the best meal you have ever eaten?
A meal of fresh seafood while sitting by the Sea in Santorini, Greece
2. Where would you most like to visit that you have never been to before?
It is a toss up between Alaska and Australia
3. What is your proudest moment?
Marrying my sweet wife and having our children
born
4. What do you most regret?
The relationship I lost with my daughter during her high school years after she moved out and in with her mother.
5. If money, health, etc. were no concern, what would you do with your time?
I would preach for small churches who could not afford to hire a permanent minister and do mission work this way.
6. What is your favorite book in the Bible and why?
Romans. No other book to me captures the grace of God in such a wonderful and encouraging way.
I don’t like seafood, but I might enjoy it if I were sitting by the sea in Greece! Enjoyed getting to know you better, Danny. Thanks, Dee, for this series on your blog.

I have known Danny since I was 17 years old and could have filled in some gaps there with some goood stuff. But then he might tell some on me. So, I’ll just say he’s as genuine a Christian man as you will ever meet. He is adventurous and hardworking … he is a great friend. I have wanted to be like him in so many ways. But then in other ways…not. LOL
