Week 23 - Work Progresses with Framing
January 29th, 2007 at 7:33 am by Dee O'Neil Andrews
Despite the fact that we had rain a couple of days this past week, work is really progressing with the framing of our house. We went out "to the house" (we already call it going to the house, even though it would be a bit airy to try to live in) and were excited to see all the changes from just a few days ago.
Right now we go out to check on things once a week, with a second visit sometimes during the week. In fact, I drove out there Thursday to check on progress (because it had rained the day before for a while) and was happy to see so many workers and so much activity.
I couldn't really go into the house because of all of the scaffolding and workers and lumber, so just stayed a couple of minutes and left. But it's fun to watch!
Here's two photos from this weekend and I posted two more on the "Creating A Home" page tabbed at the top of this page showing photos from the beginning up until now, so check those two out, too. That page will chronicle the progress from the time it was just a lot until we get the house completed.
First one here is looking out to the back porch from the living room:

This second photo is looking from the great room (living room) toward teh kitchen and breakfast area with Tom standing there surveying "the plantation!":

Note the 12' "ceilings" we'll have in the living area and kitchen/breakfast area. We'll have drop down fans to cool the rooms and pendant lights will go over the kitchen bar that will angle out in front of where Tom is.
