Interview With Tamie Ross

Today's interview is with the female half of that dynamic duo over at "Bobby & Tamie's World-Famous Blog," and associate editor of the online Christian Chronicle, Tamie Ross.  Here are the interesting facts about Tamie that you don't know in her own words.

Part 1 - Basic Interview Questions

1.  What's your favorite scripture?

The Word never changes, but my favorite Scripture does. Right now it’s Mark 2:4 in the KJV: “And when they could not come night unto him for the press, …”

 2.  Vital Statistics:

I was born May 25, 1970 in Shawnee, Okla.

3.  Names of Spouse & Children and birthdays:

Married to Bobby (11-5-67) on April 28, 1990. Braden Tyler was born 7-13-93; Keaton Chandler was born 5-23-97; Kendall Jade was born 7-9-99.

4.  What brought you to the location you are now?

The Lord, The Christian Chronicle, our love for the Edmond, Okla. church and an occasional craving for the world’s best Tex-Mex, in that order.

5.     Where all have you lived in your life and when?

Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee.

6.  What kind of work do you do?

I’m the Associate Online Editor for the Chronicle.

7.  What do you love most about your work?

The interaction I have on so many levels with God’s people all over the world.

8.  What do you like least about your work?

When God’s people don’t behave, speak or write in a manner that reflects him.

9.  Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Mrs. Pattison, my junior and senior English teacher from high school. She and her red pen are the reason I love and respect the art of writing. I even wrote about her red pen in my senior journal – it took on a life of its own.

10.  Any hidden talents:

Laundry stain removal. It’s such a thankless job.

11.  Little known fact about me:

I can wear cheap jewelry, but the real stuff irritates my skin horribly. I can’t even wear my wedding ring without getting a horrible rash.

Part 2 - Favorite Things:

 1.  Favorite Book:

This also changes. Right now it’s At Wits End by Erma Bombeck. I started reading Erma Bombeck when I was 10 or so and yet still had children of my own.

2.  Favorite Movie:

“Gone With the Wind”

3.  Favorite food:

Sugar

4.  Favorite Kind of Music:

Alternative Christian

5.  Favorite musical group or performers:

Toby Mac

6.  Favorite Song:

Canon in D, Johann Pachelbel

7.  Favorite Junk Food:

Raspberry Zingers

8.  Favorite childhood memory:

Getting up at 6 a.m. and going out on the lake with my grandfather, just me and him in the boat, the mist on the water and the spray occasionally hitting my face. I’d get cold and he’d wrap me up in his coat. I loved the way that coat smelled.

Part 3 - Thought Questions:

1.  What is the best meal you have ever eaten?

The chicken and dumplings my mom and grandma made me after I got home from the hospital after Brady was born. I had had a c-section and hadn’t eaten much in a week, so that was my request. The fact that someone was taking care of me, an exhausted, uncertain, emotional new mother, was probably as appealing as the food was.

2.  Where would you most like to visit that you have never been before?

It’s a tie between Australia and New Zealand. I desperately want to see that part of the world.

3.  What is your proudest moment?

Personally, I’m proudest when one of my children works for something and succeeds. Professionally, those moments come when the perfect phrases materialize on my computer screen. It’s the zen of mind, heart and fingers.

4.  What do you most regret?

Not waiting until I was a little older to be baptized. I was too young at 8 to understand and appreciate that gift.

5.  If money, health, etc, were no concern, what would you do with your time?

I would hire tutors for my children and Bobby and I would take them around the world, meeting Christians and telling their stories.

6.  What is your favorite book in the Bible and why?

Luke. I love the insight, the details, the picture he paints for us of Jesus’ life and ministry. I appreciate that he was also a people-watcher. He must have been an incredible intellectual, but I can’t help but think he had a dry wit (like my husband).

I’m enjoying them very much, too. Really enjoyed getting to read a little bit about Tamie.

Did anyone else catch this line:

***I would hire tutors for my children and Bobby…***

    Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

My daughter is 8 and I wonder when the right
    “baptismal age” is…

Good stuff, Dee. I found her pick of Luke as favorite very interesting. Luke was not only a writer and physician, he was an artist. The Orthodox Church treasures him as a great painter who began the tradition of icons. True or false, it is very widely believed.

Toby Mac…? Can she say that?

It’s a little nerve wracking to be on the other side of the questions! Thanks for handling me with kid gloves, Dee. I’ll have to think of clever commentary for these responses now.

Wow, great interview. I learned some things I didn’t know, i.e., I had never heard of Mrs. Pattison. As for Tamie’s musical tastes … Toby Mac. I mean, come on …

  8. on 31 Jan 2007 at 9:50 pm Donna

I’ll take dumplings and New Zealand….

Neat interview — I’m always amazed when people can answer about favorites - even if they change over time — I always seem to have many favorites and - often forget — until later what my real favorite is. So it is good for this “wishy washy” old guy to read about and come to know focussed committed Christians such as Tammie — and Tammie — your focus on commitment to your kids is A1 -

    God Bless
    Charlie
