Tom and I lead rather simple lives.  We aren't fancy people, nor we demand any frills and fru-fru.  In fact, we like things rather plain and down to earth.

You know - things like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.  Bologna (okay, make that baloney) sandwiches and hot dogs.

Tom comes home for lunch every day and he is easy to prepare a meal for.  His usual fare is a sandwich with some sweet gherkins and chips and a bowl of soup.  About once a week or so we'll both have a big salad and then supper is just a very light meal of leftovers from the weekend or hot dogs for Tom.

Having literally grown up in movie theaters, he absolutely loves hots dogs and pop corn and many nights will just eat a big bowl of pop corn for dinner.

And I make the best grill cheese sandwiches you've ever eaten.  I use Colby-Jack cheese on Pepperidge Farm farm style 7 grain bread and let it get really melty and oozy.  Have that with a big bowl of hot tomato soup and you've got a meal fit for a king, I'm telling ya.

So what are some of the simple things in life you like to eat?  Let's hear it today for the simple things of life that can't be beat.  You know - like homemade lemonade on a hot sultry summer's day.  Or a barely ripe golden delicious apple on a cool fall day.  What are some of your favorites?

Yum, I love a good grilled cheese sandwich! In fact, we were planning to have some for dinner tonight. I also enjoy really red, ripe tomatoes, sliced and salted. Chocolate chip cookies or brownies, warm from the oven. That’s all the simple food I can think of — all my other favorites seem more complicated.

Fresh corn. Fried green tomatoes. That’s all I can think of - I must be a complicated person….

Yum… grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds good to me. How about homemade popcorn (not air-popped or that fake microwave stuff). Mmmmm.

I also love grilled cheese and tomato soup–sometimes I like to put tomato on the grilled cheese, too. Love a good BLT as well.

Any fresh veggies are a hit with me. And anything chocolate!

All this food talk is making me hungry…guess I need to fix dinner!

I love that first tomato sandwich with the garden tomatoes in the summer.

**David and I ate so many grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup when we first got married…it was our poor man’s food. But I still love it!

I love a grilled cheese if it has ham on it. Not big into soups, although there is a place out here (SoCal) that serves the very best chicken tortilla soup. I also like broccoli and cheese soup. Go figure?

A staple for me is simply a bowl of cereal or a PBJ sandwich on very, very fresh bread.

Last year we were at the LA County fair and saw a place selling Krispy Kreme Donut and Chicken sandwiches! A donut cut in half w/ a chicken breast on it. I wasn’t about to pay their price for it, but I figure you throw away the chicken, you got a pretty good sandwich going for you!

I like beanie weanies. A can of pork’n'beans with microwaved hot dog chunks simmered together on the stove. Yummy.

(And, now some of you are ill from reading that! Sorry.)
