Speaking of technological glitches . . . we've been having trouble with our DSL line to the computer now for a day and a half.  In other words - no internet or e-mail!  That's why there was no interview of the week yesterday or any other word from over here at Finding Direction.

But believe me, there were lots of words spoken here at home - alone.  In anguish.  And in muted aggravation (I was trying to be really humble - remember our word for the week from Sunday?), over the phone with all of the DSL/Internet Tech Support people when I had to keep calling all day long.

So it was a miserable day all the way around here in Technologyville without the Technology.  A sad day, indeed.  And I'm still having multi-troubles with it all this morning . . ..  Not a good portent for the day.

Tell you what I'm going to do, though, to try to cheer myself up a bit.  I'm fixin' to post some brand new photos of our house construction progress both here on my main page and even more (six!) on my "Creating A Home" page that is tabbed up at the top up here, if you'll go look there.

I took them Monday and got some good ones showing the painting that has been done, all of the trim work that is in around the windows, doorways and baseboards, and showing the half-wall that is going up in the kitchen at an angle across from the short living room/dining room wall.  You'll see.  I'll explain each one as I go below.

Here goes:

This first photo is taken from the front door looking toward the kitchen/breakfast area where the half-wall is now going up.  You can see all of the bright wide wood trim work and the "Almost Almond" colored walls.  Because of the way the light falls, the color on the walls looks much more faded and light than in other areas.  The color is really a medium color, not as light as it sometimes appears in the light, but of course, that was the whole point!  Give the walls some "character!"

12_Lot_04_30_07_008___4x6.jpg

This second photo is looking from the hallway going to the master bedroom toward the kitchen with the dining room to the left in the back and the living room to the back right.  The breakfast room is in the right forefront.

This third photo is taken from nearly the same angle, but looking more directly back through the breakfast room to the living room.  The color as it looks on the living room walls in this photo are really what the color looks like (I think) on the card I used.  But I like the way the filtered light from outside brights and lightens the color inside the house!

  This fourth one is taken from the driveway looking at the front porch and the brick, which is nearly completely done.  And before you say it - I know the front looks funny right now with the windows so far away on each side from the front door, but that is because we are going to have "closed" louvered  shutters with white crown molding in the center in between the door and the windows on each side to make it look like a second set of windows across the front porch - one on either side.  There will also be white crown molding on top of each window you see and the deep New Orleans blackish green louvered shutters on each side of them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So that's it for today.  Oh - but I'm posting seven new photos on my "Creating A Home" page tabbed at the top of this main page, to add to my collection from the very beginning of the construction process (which has been going on a very long time, indeed), so go there and check them out!
Cheers & Blessings to you all today!  Hope you have a great day and no technology glitches!  Dee
    Sorry to hear about all that aggravation. Don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone, yes?
    Nice photos! You and Tom (and guests?) are really going to enjoy your new place.
    Love the pictures! And the wall color is great… nothing more aggravating than plain white walls. It looks like you have picked a great shade; neutral enough to make it easy to decorate with, but not a boring shade, either.
    What fun! Many folks hate building a new house but having done it twice, I absolutely love it.
    We built a house just over two years ago and I am still adding to the landscaping, planning to build a detached garage, and on and on it goes. I have loved every part from the planning ’til today.
    We live in the center of a mosquito heaven so perhaps the best feature of our house is the huge screened porch in the back.
    I enjoyed the post and the pics. Have fun!
    Grace to you,
    Happening times for you, Dee. I like it. Pepperdine is in full swing and many of us are already overindulging!
    Peace.
    I was wondering why you were so quiet out there yesterday. House looks great! Can’t wait to see the pictures of you and Tom standing in your fully furnished place.
