Providing Service

Talked with our builder yesterday who said it's time for us to go to the rural water company that serves the area and neighborhood where we'll be living to get signed up for (and paid up for, of course!) a water meter.  They already have the sewer system in at the house - we just need the meter to be set so that pipes can be run from the main to the meter by the company and then to the house by our plumber.

Tom told me to call them first to see what their hours are before I went traipsing out there today because it's a good 10 miles or further to the place.  It's a good thing I did because their business hours are Monday - Wednesday - Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Period.

Talk about short on service and long on inconvenience.  Guess I'm not going to be able to go get a water meter set up until tomorrow afternoon.

But, you know - I've been thinking.  How many of us as Christians sort of keep the same hours when we are available for service to others?  Maybe 1/2 a day three days a week or something.  I mean - many consider the fact that they show up for church two or three times a week to be sufficient service to God, much less service to others.

How many of us are "on" 24/7?  Available at the drop of a hat or just a phone call away in any instance to do what we can, even if it is to pray?

Something to think about today.  While I'm not at the water association office trying to get a water meter hooked up.  Maybe I'll have to be a Christian today, you suppose? . . .

Cheers & Blessings to you all today!  Dee

Dee, I’ve been there and down that and I’m not proud of it. I have had folks come by our building wanting help when I was in a hurry to get somewhere. I helped them to a person but my thoughts at times were elsewhere and not on being Jesus to someone in need. Thanks for the reminder.

    P.S.
You need to come to Malibu sometime.

Being somewhat of a “pro” I’m on 24/7/365, but it’s seldom abused by the church here.
