"Well, it’s been a quiet week here in Lake Wobegon . . . "
Oops . . . that’s Garrison Keillor of A Prairie Home Companion on NPR.
Let me begin again.
It’s been a very active week here in Picayune, Mississippi.
Let me start with the future, though, if I may. Summer is here, so next week – that’s next week, friends, is going to kick off the phenomenal Second Annual Finding Direction Summer Desktop Photo Contest, so be thinking about what you’d like to be capturing momentous photos of to enter. Prizes were awarded last winter (courtesy of the TheoBloggers, who host yours truly here at Finding Direction) for the Second Annual Finding Direction Winter Desktop Photo Contest and there were lots of very good winners.
In fact – here are the posts of the winning photo entries for the last three contests for you to peruse to get some ideas for this summer’s big event:

And now we’re back to summer again, so begin thinking creatively and the judges will let you know about all of the rules (What?! There are rules?!) and the theme next week. Last winter we had 40 something photos entered and competition was tough with bribes being thrown out right and left by some of the more errant participants, who shall remain nameless, but their initials are Patrick Mead (who offered a free tatoo, which was mighty tempting) and Greg England (who offered his psycho dog, Chipper, to be an in-home companion, but I – er, the judges, declined).
The Finding Direction Judges overlooked their slippsies, refused all offers on the table and were gracious enough to award them prizes anyway fairly and squarely. (Or should that be fair and square? Oh well . . . )
In the meantime, watch for new pictures here at Finding Direction (finally) of our house, which is now in the final stages of construction. It poured down rain yesterday and was very dark out, but we got electricity hooked up to the house on Tuesday and so the workers were able to turn on a few lights in the kitchen to see to start putting the kitchen cabinets in. They should be finished with those today.
In the next few days we are looking for a whole lot more materials to be delivered and installed, including kitchen and bath counter tops, hanging the two garage doors and putting the pillars in place on the front porch.
We are hoping to move in within two weeks, Lord willing, so please pray for us about that. We’ve got the Mississippi Press Association summer convention to attend June 20 through 23, so are trying our best to get moved into our house before then.
I guess that’s about it for today. We had a busy fun Memorial Day weekend, but took time to remember those who have given their lives for us all in this country. Hope you all did the same.
See you tomorrow morning, hopefully!
Cheers & Blessings to you all today! Dee

Maybe the category should be food of summer…you know hot dogs, homemade ice cream, watermelon….ummm I just made myself hungry!
Donna, wished you hadn’t said that, you mad me hungry, and I can’t have any of that, but the watermelon.

I ready for the fun to begin!

That Greg scoundrel also offered his sermons on tape as a bribe. No telling what he’ll offer to try and go one up on Patrick.
Can’t wait to see what the photo contest theme will be!
We’re finally beginning our home-building process. First up: finding some land back near Omaha that doesn’t need to be built on right away. I’m also bookmarking home plan ideas online and marking my favorites from my collection of home plan books (I get at least one book in my stocking every Christmas).
Oh, and speaking of moving…. we’ll be in our base house at the end of June.
I think the name of the movie was “Money Trap.” The sub-contractors standard answer when asked when would the house be ready was, you guess it, “2 weeks.” Good luck.
