Fireflies & Hummingbirds
July 11th, 2007 at 7:31 am by Dee O'Neil Andrews
We have fireflies and hummingbirds.
The woods at night are filled with tiny flickers of light that are the fireflies. Tom stands and leans out over the railing of the high back deck above the woods and watches them before he comes to bed. Night lights of the best kind.
By day, hummingbirds come to gather sweet nectar from the bright red hibiscus blooms on our hibiscus "tree" out on the back deck given to us by a neighboring friend who works with Tom.
So all is not gloomy in my world. There are bright God-given things to rejoice in.
Hope you find it so today, too. Dee
Hummingbirds remind me of two things, my childhood and Colorado. Growing up in Florida in the 70’s we had an abundance of hummingbirds but for some reason they for the most part disappeared.
Backcountry hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park brought us into contact with the little rascals as well.
Glad things are humming along at your place.
Sounds so peaceful and beautiful. God’s creation is both powerful and serene. blessings,jd
Two of God’s most fascinating creatures … not to mention the fireflies and hummingbirds!!
YOu were on my mind as I prayed this morning. I am glad you are finding the beauty and the peace that is all around you. Thanks for sharing.
sounds like heaven to me
Ya know I’m going to ask this , did ya get any pictures of them ? fireflys or the hummers?

I’m glad you are feeling more settled. I love watching our hummingbirds. I have a couple of feeders outside a kitchen window. I just hope you don’t have as many mosquitos as we do! We’ve had a lot of rain lately and they’re everywhere at any time of day.

Thanks for reminding me of these simple blessings.
Now, how about some whipperwills?
yes , love to hear the whipperwills!
if ya have every heard a whipperwill call, it sounds like they are saying whippoorbill, I always wondered what poor bill did!
