Housewarming Pictures – At Last!

July 23rd, 2007 · 11 Comments · Creating A Home, Photos, Videos, Tom & Me, Uncategorized

Y’all have been clamoring to see some pictures of the house since we’ve moved in.  Well – today you have that opportunity, plywood kitchen counter tops and all.  Just send the housewarming gifts via comment below, okay?!

I’m posting a lot of pictures, so don’t get bored.  I’m also going to post them all to the page listed above "Creating A Home" where you can go back and see the progress of this adventure from the time it was merely a lot out in the country all the way through to today, okay?!

The only picture I don’t have today is one from the outside front of the house, but I’ll get that one later.  There are some men outside working right now so I can’t get a good picture yet.

Here goes.

First is the living room from inside the front door:

The second is the dining room:

The third is looking back across the living room from the dining room.  We still don’t have our doors in for the built-in TV entertainment center, though:

The next pictures are of the kitchen, plywood counter tops and all:

Here’s a couple more of the kitchen from different angles:

Here’s the breakfast area with our little table and three chairs where Tom eats breakfast and lunch every day.  You’ll have to excuse all of the extraneous pieces and parts still laying around everywhere!  We’re still unpacking:

Now to the fun part.  Our all time favorite place in the whole house where we spend each evening out on the back porch together under the fan:

Here’s a shot out the back screen to the hammock out on the deck:

The next shot is through the screen, too, to Tom’s grill and smoker and little cabinet he keeps his wood chips in:

The next photo (only one more following) is the one y’all will be most interested in.  It’s our guest bedroom for when you all come to visit us, okay?!

And finally – my "office" bedroom where all of this brilliant post writing I was talking about the other day takes place.  As you look at the desk, there is a closet to the right and a big long window to the left facing the front of the house and the woods across the street.  It’s a beautiful setting and a peaceful place to blog out here in the country.  But please excuse all of the clutter you see in the picture (and the box and pillow on the floor next to the desk!) as we are still trying to unpack and get things put away because I like a very clean, uncluttered look around me.

That’s it for today.  I’ll post a few more pictures after we get our counter tops in.  In fact, we are supposed to be having the bar counter tops installed today, with the rest to be put in hopefully on Friday, after the next Thursday truck brings the last big section that is missing.  It all arrived this past Thursday except for one piece that ended up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for some unknown reason!?!  Good grief, guys, you know?!

In the meantime, I’m trying to keep good spirits and enjoy our new home as much as possible with having only been in for two or three weeks.  Hope you’ll have a good day, too.

Cheers & Blessings to you each today!  Dee

Looks warm and inviting. I can just imagine a little bug spray and that hammock on a late summer evening, all pregnant with the ambiance of trees and noise of cickets, etc. I’m getting drowsy!

Great pictures, Dee! We are beginning to look for land back in NE (hard to do from halfway across the country). We may have found us a nice lot that is almost 1.5 acres to build on. I’m a little nervous; the whole land-buying, home-constructing thing is uncharted territory for us!

Dee, How beautiful. It looks so inviting like you just can’t wait for friends to show up. I just don’t know how you do it; but I am glad to be a part of your blogging community. Pat

Next time you’re out shopping (with all your extra $$), see about a Three Stooges bedspread for the guest bedroom! It will really add class to your new home! Looks GREAT, Dee. I’m really happy for you and Tom.

    Very beautiful–an obvious “home”.
    Thanks for sharing,

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I would love to see you in some of them! However, I can picture you and Tom sitting on the porch and enjoying the cool of the evening.

We had a roof added to a portion of the front of the house for a “sittin porch.” I love to sit and rock and enjoy the cool evenings, if we could just find a way to annihilate the mosquitos. We do have a programmable bug sprayer which helps tremendously! Enjoy and blessings on you today!

Dee, I know you are just so excited to be here. It is a wonderful airy home…I of course love the porch.

I hope you and Tom have many wonderful happy years here together.
