Finding Direction: The Wind Vane Chronicles

Eight Random Facts About Me . . .

July 24th, 2007 · 5 Comments · Blogging, Reflections, Tom & Me, Uncategorized

I’ve been tagged.  (1.  I hate being tagged by the way, for the first random fact about me!)  By no less than John Alan (Turner) of Faith 2.0 blog and other writings.  John is a very talented young man in Atlanta area and does great work.  He is a published author.  Of course, aren’t we all these days with our blogs and all.  But in John Alan’s case, he really is.  Just Google his name and you’ll see.  Or go to Amazon and type in his name as an author.

Okay . . . here’s one of his books: The Gospel According to the DaVinci Code:  The Truth Behind the Writings of Dan Brown

Anyway – I always say I’m not going to do these any more and then half the time I do.  But don’t send me any stupid ones, okay?!  Plus, I’m not tagging 8 more people.  If you want to tell us some random things about yourself, then do so in comment and that will suffice.  I mean, I like to know that goofy stuff along with the rest of you.  I just don’t like tagging.  (But I’m doing it.  Slowly here.)

Okay.  I already gave you number one.  Here’s the rest.

2.  I once – for four months – was a used car salesman.  It was horrible, by the way, and I greatly regretted having ever signed on.  The most I ever made on a car sale was $50 bucks on the sale of a huge Lincoln Continental that was a big lemon.  That’s another story, though.  Back to the random facts.

3.  I avidly claim to be a Texan, but by accident of birth was born in Chicago, Illinois and have lived in Mississippi most of my adult life.  I may have been born in Chicago, but I’m a southerner at heart.

4.  I was my school’s Harvest Queen the fall semester of my senior year of high school.  I got to ride a float and stuff.  It was like Homecoming without the big pom-pom flowers.

5.  I memorized the books of the Bible when I was four years old and know them still today.  With a little help, of course!  ha!

6.  My little brother who died when he was 8 died the same year as Buddy Holly and his gravestone was made by the very same stonemason in Lubbock, Texas.

7.  I broke my nose when I was a little girl.  I fell down a short flight of stairs on my tricycle, my mom said.

8.  When I first met Tom, I was scared to death of him because he was so different from poor little naive me who had never worked outside my home.  I was 34 years old when we met.

That’s all the random facts I can think of at the moment and all I’m going to divulge this morning.  Maybe sometime again soon I’ll give you some more.  We’ll see.

Meanwhile . . . Cheers & Blessings to each of you today!  Dee

    Dee,
Thanks so much for doing this. I have never played along on one of these before, but I’m glad you did!

Question: Do you have to sing “the song” to remember the books of the Bible?

  • Greg England

Thank you for not tagging others! As for the books of the Bible, I have had them memorized for many years as well. My problem is when I have to say them in order! That gets tricky … and I’ve been a preacher for 30 years.

You know, Ray Benson was born in Pennsylvania. I can’t think of anybody more Texan than him. He was a Texan before he ever got here.

This MeMe helped my find your blog. So I guess it did one of us some good.

    Dee,

What an image — your time as a used-car salessperson!

Sorry I double-tagged you. I haven’t been able to catch up with all my blog reading like I should.
