You can't control the length of your life, but you can control its width and depth.  You can't control the contour of your face, but you can control its expression.  You can't control the weather, but you can control the atmosphere of your mind.  Why worry about things you can't control when you can keep yourself busy controlling the things that depend on you?

Unknown

I don't know about you, but sometimes I need a reminder that I need to be working on the things in my life I have some control over, not all the things I have no control over.  I get those things confused sometimes and try to take on a bunch of stuff that I can't do anything about.

That is unnecessary worry on my part, at which I'm very good, I'm tellin' you.

But even when I'm depressed - and I have those times in my life, as many of you know - I can be cheery around (most) other people and not let it affect them.  Not everyone has to know that I'm depressed, you know?

Of course, I usually tell you guys, but you're my good friends.  We can share those things.  But, I still don't have to try to bring you down with me, too, now do I?!  God stays with me no matter what, but He likes it when I do my part to control those things internal within me that I can.  There are plenty to turn over to Him for sure, but I don't need to add unnecessary burden to Him, either.

That's the way I look at it, anyway.  So, think on these things with me today, if you will.  I'm going to be thinking on them and working on them, too.

Also . . . as a reminder - be sorting through your summertime photos so you can enter the ongoing Second Annual Finding Direction Summer Desktop Photo Contest that ends the Tuesday after Labor Day.  (I think I said Monday last time, but of course, Monday is Labor Day!)

I've gotten in some great shots already of a big variety of subjects, nearly all related to your summer activities and/or new things in your lives in some way.  So far I've received about 24 photos, so the competition is stiff, but great fun.

Just email me your jpgs is all you have to do.  (My email address is "dee_andrews@bellsouth.net".)  I'll take care of the rest.  I've even gotten some photos from heretofore "lurkers" who had never commented before, so that's been great.  Y'all jump in here for the first time, if you'd like.  All of you are honored guests and most welcome.

Cheers & Blessings to you all today!  Till next time!  Dee

After receiving a picture of my grandson, you’re STILL asking for other entries? Why???

You just revealed the crux of special needs ministry.

    Dee,

Thanks for the quote and the posting. I definitely needed that reminder today…I was having a down day and needed an attitude adjustment.

No matter our circumstances, it is our attitude that we can control and use to the glory of God. Thanks for the reminder.

    Dee,
I want you to know that I really needed this post. I love the quote and the post made me feel like I am not alone when it comes to some of the things that I have been struggling with lately. Thanks. I hope you have a great week.

Greg, I’m with you! Your grandson is gorgeous and a living testament to the power of God over DNA.

Wonderful post Dee. I have found that when things have been the most out of my control is when I have grown the most. But even knowing this I still fight for that control.

Let go and let God. I need to hear it.

Last year Greg tried to bribe you with a dog and Patick tried to give you a free tatoo.

I’m thinking of uping the stakes to something good. I’m thinking of bribing you with an autographed picture of a NASCAR driver or a new NASCAR t-shirt.

    What do you think?

    Trey -

I think that the Finding Direction judges hold their cards close to their vests and that all bribes will receive equal attention and consideration - on the merits. No comments on what the “merits” are!

Cheers! & Blessings to all of you bribery entrants to the contest and all of the rest of you, as well! Dee

A NASCAR T-shirt? How lame. Are you even able to turn right while wearing one?
