I had said that the deadline for the official Finding Direction Summer Desktop Photo Contest was midnight last night, but I have in my graciousness extended it one more day so you have until tonight at midnight to get your photos in by hook or by crook.

Wow - that was a long sentence (as well as a long caption at the top).

All of you talented (and very blessed) winners (for you are all winners in my book) be thinking about what momentous photos you'd like to be capturing to enter and email them on in to me ASAP.

Prizes were awarded last winter (courtesy of the TheoBloggers, who host yours truly here at Finding Direction) for the Second Annual Finding Direction Winter Desktop Photo Contest and there were lots of very good winners.

In fact - here are the posts of the winning photo entries for the last three contests for you to peruse to get some ideas for this summer's big event:

Now that Labor Day is past and school is back in session, get out all of those summer activities, vacations and holiday photos and get them on in.  There was no pre-selected theme this time.  Is that cool, or what?!  I'm tellin' you.  The judges are being most gracious and lenient.

Actually, the judges will let you know about all of the rules (What?!  There are rules?!) sometime in the distant future, so not to worry.  They are easily met and all entries are pretty much accepted as is, no questions asked.  In fact, you don't even have to take the photos yourself.  You can snag some off of Google images or some other internet photo provider as long as you give credit (where possible) to the photographer, if that is applicable.  In other words, don't be taking anyone's licensed work without permission.  Unless you can get away with it, of course.

You can also submit as many photos as you'd like, but please do so within reason.  Please do not blanket the judges with an excessive number of photos per person.  Let's be fair for those who don't send in as many.

So - be thinking summer food, summer vacations, achievements over the summer, such as awards at camp, swim meets, etc, family get togethers, reunions, your cute kids, or not so cute kids, as the case may be, any new events in your life (Greg with a new grandbaby, graduations), mountains, beaches, water, trees.  You know . . .

Last winter we had 40 something photos entered and competition was tough with bribes being thrown out right and left by some of the more errant participants, who shall remain nameless, but their initials are Patrick Mead (who offered a free tatoo, which was mighty tempting) and Greg England (who offered his psycho dog, Chipper, to be an in-home companion, but I - er, the judges, declined).

As an alternative bribe, the esteemed Rev. England offered some tried and trued sleep aids for the judges.  Some of his renowned sermons on CDs.

The Finding Direction Judges overlooked their slippsies, refused all offers on the table and were gracious enough to award them prizes anyway fairly and squarely.  (Or should that be fair and square?  Oh well . . . )

Well, enough about rules and the like.  They are of little consequence, anyway, when the competitors get cranked up in the midst of frenzied activity to get their best shots in (figuratively and in reality).

So, get those last minute photos in today, ya' hear?  The judges have already received a wide variety of photos that have run the gamut.  Been a very interesting lot this time.  But more are encouraged to enter.

The winners will be announced in a few days as soon as the judges have time to properly process and judge the entries.  Lots of pictures are always honored, so it takes a while to do the judging.  The judges will let you all know when the winners while be announced because they know you all are highly anticipating the announcement.

In the meantime . . . Cheers!  & Blessings to you each today!  Dee

P. S.  Start emailing me with all of your JPEGS and with any lingering questions.

Silly Greg - that shipping address should have a Florida zip code.

I’m embarrassed to share the name with another Greg England who would actually try to throw the contest with bribes. What’s this world coming to???

Last time I asked about “Greg England” sermons … and Jel sent me some. She’s awesome. So were the sermons.

How long do we have to wait for the revealing of the winners?
