It’s Been A Quiet Week Here

Sorry I haven't been writing this week.  It's been a really quiet week and I've not really had anything on my mind to write about, to tell the truth.  I used to get weeks like that sometimes at the newspaper when I was working as Community Editor.  I wrote a weekly column along with all of the stories I went out to find daily and once in a while I had really dull, boring weeks in which nothing happened and I couldn't think of anything to write.

What's interesting about that fact is that one week I wrote my column about how dull and boring life was around me and how I couldn't think of anything to write about and how terribly depressing it was and I got all kinds of responses to that column.

Of course, with the newspaper, at least back then, there were no instant comments directly to the column like there is with blogging, but just people taking the time to call me at work or to stop me on the street to tell me they really identified with me.  That was always heartening.  Just as much as reading comments to my blog posts are now.

In fact, I've been surprised this week at how many of you took the time to take the "test" to see what color you are.  That's kind of neat, and true to my prediction, there was a wide range of colors among you which means we do, indeed, have enough for a nice box of colors.  God made us all unique, didn't He?  That's pretty cool.

Our granddaughter, Zoe, who just turned five, would appreciate that.  I actually could write about Zoe today.  You see, her daddy, my son Mark, brought her out two afternoons to go "fishing."  They actually were catching minnows in a dip net and putting them in a bucket of creek water to take home.

Mark was the one catching them because the minnows were too fast for Zoe.  And the first afternoon I don't think many of the minnows even made it home alive because Zoe kept catching them in her hands out of the bucket afterward so that she could hold them and play with them.  They didn't take to being lovingly squeezed so hard and some went belly up before Mark could get them in the car.

Zoe had on a long sleeved shirt and she was wet up to her elbows from sticking her arms down in the bucket.  But, being the provident dad, Mark had brought an extra dry shirt for her to put on before they went home knowing how she would be.  I thought that was pretty neat.

Zoe loves bugs and frogs and snakes and all kinds of creepy crawly living creatures.  I told Mark she's going to be a biologist like her daddy.  Mark works for a company called Environmental Enterprises that does water quality testing for drilling companies and plants that drain off water from their work.  It is all EPA regulated for our good to make sure that our waters in our lakes and streams and the gulf stay safe.

The second afternoon Mark brought Zoe out he called to tell me they were coming, but were going straight down to the creek without stopping in.  It was about time I was fixing dinner and he didn't want to disturb my cooking for Tom, which was thoughtful of him.  But Zoe wouldn't have it.  She came knocking on my door with her little knock because she wanted to talk with Grandma Dee.

She immediately started straighting things up and finding Tom's little candy wrappers lying around and going and putting them in the trash can.  She also hunted meticulously for love bugs lurking that she could go put in the trash.  And, they're everywhere to be found around the house, although the infestation of a solid month seems to be about over.  Thank goodness.  We've swept them up by the thousands, as I said the other day.  Multiple thousands.

Well, I guess I found something to write about today after all.   I'm glad, because I've missed conversing with you the past few days.  I'm feeling pretty well, by the way, and appreciate all of the prayers on my behalf.  I just continue to watch carefully the low blood pressure episodes and to try to control my medication accordingly.

Cheers & Blessings to to you all today!  And have a great weekend.  It's raining here this morning, but we need the rain so that is good.  It's a soft steady rain that the earth is soaking up.  I'll be back on Monday, I promise, with a new post.  I've got to keep up with you guys!  Much love to you all, Dee

Good to see you back. This weekend’s rain might get me out of working a Harris Corp. Company party (almost 5,000 expected) for Project Graduation. Have a good weekend.

I sure am looking forward to those episodes with our grandchild!! Glad you’re back … rather lengthy blog for someone who had nothing to say, though! :) We drove through about a millionth of an inch of rain today, so we’d love to have some of that Southern Rain here.

My 6-yo daughter loves bugs, too. She also likes lizards. She and her daddy go to the park to try and catch them sometimes.
