How in the world am I going to do that, you ask!!

Well, bear with me for a couple of minutes.

And first, let me apologize for being so long to make these applications that I promised to make the end of last week and beginning of this week.  I have not felt well this week and have been having a lot of trouble with low blood sugars from being diabetic.  They pretty much wipe me out for a couple of hours sometimes and I've been having repeated low blood sugars.  Among other medical maladies.

Anyway . . . here's what I've been thinking.

What we've been talking about is how we regulate the temperatures in our homes both summer and winter to keep us comfortable and/or affordable.  I was amazed at both the variety of means we use to do that and the actual temperatures at which different ones of us find comfort and/or affordability.

We live in a wide variety of places with very varying climates.  On top of that, some of us are cold natured and some of us are warm natured.

But when all is said and done, physical comfort is the goal we all seek.

I've been thinking that it is the same when we come to Christianity and living Christian lives.  We all seek the same goal as Christians, to serve God and to imitate Christ before all people.  Yet, we each are unique individuals who go about reaching that goal in a wide variety of ways.

We are all at different stages along life's way in seeking to do God's will in our lives and some of us make better choices than others.  Just as probably some of us overdo it when it comes to setting the thermostat to maintain a comfortable level, some of us make poor choices in our lives at time.  Yet, we must bear with one another and exhibit love no matter what.

Steve Puckett helped me out this week by emailing me the following statement of faith used by a Baptist church in Abilene, Texas.  It pretty much sums up the spiritual applications I was thinking of with the essential goal and variety of means to reach that goal among a wide variety of people.  So, read the following and think about what I've said.

If you do so thoughtfully, I think you'll see where I'm coming from with this and where our hearts need to go to live these admonitions out.

Read them and reflect just a moment and then I'll close this out.

In essential beliefs ~ We have unity.

"There is one body and one Spirit... there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of us all..."
          Ephesians 4:4~6

In non-essential beliefs ~ We have liberty.

"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else?s servant? To his own master he stands or falls... So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God... So whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God."
           Romans 14:1,4,12,22

In all our beliefs ~ We show love and grace.

"...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge, but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains, but have no love, I amount to nothing at all."
           1 Corinthians 13:2

Think about these thoughts and these scriptures every time you adjust your air conditioning or heat and I guarantee you'll have a better day because of it!

Hope y'all have a great and blessed weekend ahead.  I'll be back either over the weekend or first thing Monday to take on something new.  Any suggestions for the next round of questions?  I'm sure y'all are thinking something out there.  Maybe how Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are going to whup the Giants Sunday!  (Go Cowboys!)

Cheers & Blessings to you all today!  Comment and tell me what you're thinking about today!  I love your comments.  Got some great ones the last several days!  Dee

Dee, you know I love you but using Steve Puckett as a source? Shocking. O.K., Steve, now you can say I’m an “over-bearing (inside joke from Bible Camp / our attempted merger last year) elder.”

Great analogy about our different walks in the Lord and your “temperature settings” questions Dee.

Hope you feel better. We love you.

Puckett spends most of his days sending people emails to give the impression that he is spending hours and hours in study and research! Gotta love him.

Of course, the most blatant spiritual application to this was somehow overlooked: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Glad you’re feeling some better … missed you.

Today I am practicing the spiritual discipline of reticence and loving my enemies so I will try to overlook the defaming comments of my fellow blog commenters!

Thank you, Dee, for your sagacious actions in using me as your source. It’s good to know someone appreciates my “research.”

    Peace.

Romeo and the gang will play their last game of this season tomorrow. Eli will have a decent game, but the Giants defense will dominate. So let it be written, so let it be done.
