It’s Winter; I Miss My Back Porch

It's been really cold and rainy and dreary this week and I'm really missing my back porch meditations.

They always sooth me, even in the depression.  I sit out there on the white wicker love seat with the lovely light yellow and blue flower cushions under the neat white ceiling fan and watch the tops of the trees in the back yard.  That's how high up our house is in the back.  (Check out the pictures of our house, again, at the top of this page under "Creating A Home.")

I think the fan/light fixture on the back porch is the neatest one in our house.  It is rather nautical looking and always fun to sit under to meditate.

Where do you meditate?  Do you have a special place, or do you even meditate at all?

Comment and share with me what you do.  I need a special winter meditating place and especially right now with the depression and all.  Winter certainly doesn't help depression in any way with the cold, damp weather, short days and long nights.

Also, get your photos in if you haven't already for the photo contest.  (Find the rules here.)

Hope each of you has a good day today and a great weekend!

Cheers & Blessings to all of you!  Dee

Dee, Have you ever considered getting one of those special lamps for people who get depressed in winter? I think they are called “full spectrum lamps” and they are supposed to help. I think I even saw where you could just order the light bulbs and use your own lamps. Something like that set up near your computer or your favorite recliner might help. It is just hard not to be depressed when it is dark, dreary and cold outside. I know it must be extra hard with Tom gone. Go surfing on the web, visit some tropical beaches and maybe that will warm you up! Hang in there, Spring is just around the corner and you’ll be back on that porch before you know it! Blessings!

RE the comment above: They are UV lamps and put out the same UV as the sun..they really work. I have talked to individuals that have used them.

My meditation place is usually at night when everyone is asleep I light the candles and fireplace and just breathe in the silence and my thoughts and bible study/prayer. I also put it on #856 on the direct tv for meditation music! It is really great. It is also very good to meditate in the bath with scented oils and a good champagne and the music channel mentioned above.

    Happy meditating!!

My mother used two of those lamps (I have them now) and they are good. When I meditate, I am in my mancave with Pachelbel playing his greatest hit. Still working on that photo … patience, Dee, patience with me!!

I sit and read in my den while listening to my wife play Enya and other Irish-y stuff on the piano in the other room. I agree that the full spectrum lights are wonderful, but I tend to sit in dimmer light and let every bit and piece of me relax.

I’d make some crack here about just adding three pints of Guinness or visiting Dr. Beam but I think I need to not be so smart alecky today and just wish you well — sincerely.

And Greg, don’t bother. I’ve got this contest in the bag.
