Reminds me of the time when my wife (just a friend then) was in riding in my car with some other classmates from College. I was playing a lot of softball at the time and kept my equipment in my trunk. I told the girls that if he heard a rattling noise it was my "bats" in the trunk. My future wife with eyes wide opened then said, "You have "bats" (as in the flying variety) in your trunk?"

It took me a while to school her in the ways of sports but that is what attracted me to her, she was such a "girlie - girl."

My sister once said, "I hear a yellow plane!" and we all cracked up. How could she tell it was yellow? Since I talk for a living, I've had my share of malapropisms such as "up a creek without a ladder."

Oh, and there was time during a sermon when I meant to say that I wished I had the athletic skill of Michael Jordan... except that I said Michael Jackson.

Sounds a lot like my younger brother. He is forever pulling something over someone. While trying to impress his wife-to-be, they were out in the country when some ducks flew over. He commented to her, "Have you ever noticed when ducks fly, they fly in a V pattern and one side is always longer than the other. Do you why one side is longer?" She didn't. He explained, "There are more ducks on the long side." But I'm pretty sure even Capt. John W. Gulf would have known that.

Great story, Dee. I have one for you. My family took some lengthy road trips when I was growing up, and there were many times when anyone in the car would point out something interesting along the highway, and we'd all turn and look to see. Well, when I was in high school we had an opportunity to take a vacation in Hawaii. We got on the plane in Dallas and flew for hours, and finally were only a couple of hours away. Out the airplane window was ocean as far as the eye could see. Then my Dad points out the window and says, "Look! A dear!" And my sister immediately twists to see out the window and says, "Where??" [Insert laugh track here.] Like you, my sister gets to re-live that moment periodically, even though it was 15+ years ago. Cheers!
