Yankee or Dixie?!

Those of you who drop by must try this short test on the way you talk - Yankee or Dixie:
It is a real, valid test, by the way. It only takes a minute or two to take and is fascinating, as well as just plain fun. Find out from the way you talk and use language whether you're really the Yankee or the Dixiecrat you thought you were! I thought all along from my answers that I was a rather nondescript person, but found out to my surprise that I'm 86% Dixie, after all! I suppose that figures since I've mainly lived in the South my whole life.
However - it is a little known or published fact that I was actually born in Chicago, Illinois due purely to an accident of birth! I've also lived in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as West and East Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and now back in Mississippi.

83% Dixie here. Not bad for a gal who spent the first 26 years of her life in SE Missouri, then moved around between FL, MD, OH, NE, and CA. I’ve always felt more southern than anything else.
83% Dixie here too! I must sound just like Karen! I am not a bit surprised I have lived in TX my whole life except for a short 6 1/2 year stint in VA during the 90’s. Maybe that is why I did not score 100% dixie, all that northern influence of VA!
60% Dixie–except I use the phrase ‘you guys’ and it was not even listed. It was listed on another test similar to this one and I was 56% Dixie on that one so I guess I am about half-in half! Must have been from my time at Disney—all those dialects etc…

I’m 76% Dixie. Marrying a Yankee has somewhat diluted my “Dixieness,” I guess, though I have lived in Arkansas all but 4 years of my life. Also, I grew up pronouncing Aunt like “ain’t,” but that wasn’t an option!

I am a Definitive Yankee! Born and raised in the north, and proud of it.
39% a definite Yankee. Lived in CT all but 4 yrs. of my life. It’s time to get out! TAXES and more taxes.
That’s CRAZY! It told me I was 42% Yankee. I have lived approximately half of my life in Texas. I have lived approximately the other half of my life in Arkansas.
I don’t know that I’ve ever even visited up north.

Well, I am 78% Dixie. I would have thought I would be more than that. Afterall, I was born in Texas and raised a Texas gal.
I thought it was “Butter my butt and call me a biscuit.” Guess there are other rendentions.

78% dixie; I expected to be 100% as I have traveled very little and only to states neighboring Oklahoma.
Being born and raised in CA but coming from a southern family - Mother, TX, Grandmother, AL and Grandpa from Tennessee, I scored 53% Dixie. My husband was born and raised in GA.I think these tests are fun.
83% Dixie — like Karen & Mark. I think I’m really a little more southern than that, though. No. 1 for instance — they left out the true southern choice. I grew up pronoucing “Aunt” just like “ain’t” — and used both.
I also enjoyed the post about the Blues. Beins as I’m from the birthplace of W.C. Handy, I should know more about them. But then I do own a computer.
