Thunder is Rumbling . . .

It's about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and cloudy, with very rumbly thunder.  I sure hope it rains.

It's been very hot the past couple of weeks, but dry (although the humidity is high, of course), which is very unusual for south Mississippi this time of year.  Some afternoons you see a few clouds pop up, but then they evaporate and dissipate quickly over one small area, leaving the rest of the region with sunstroke.

If y'all have been watching the national news at all, you know that the entire northeast has been under a terrible heat wave, much worse than here, even, while vast parts of the midwest are soaked with rain and flooding away.

It all seems "highly unusual" according to the weather forecasters, but then, life always seems that way, to me.

What's the weather like where you are right now as you read this?  Livable, bearable, not so great, or maybe - for some of you - wonderful?  Comment and share with us how your weather is where you live and how you are surviving it, if it's not so good.

As for us - we're mostly staying inside under the A/C with all the fans going, day and night.  I haven't even sat out on the back porch in several days, which I really miss.

Maybe it will rain and cool things off so I can go sit under the fan on the porch in my white wicker chair and meditate.  Rainy weather is a good time to do that.

What say you today?  Dee

It has been an incredibly rainy spring here in AR, with big thunderstorms about once a week! On Memorial Day weekend, the temperature jumped up about 10 degrees and automatically went from spring to summer.

Ever since then, it’s been typical summer weather, maybe even a lil warmer than normal for June. A little on the humid side, too!

Although it did cool a bit the other night when it stormed.

Memphis weather, today, is hot but bearable. We’re in the low 90s, I think. Seems like hot weather arrived a little early for the first part of June. We got a thunderstorm night before last, and temperatures were nice yesterday, but today they are back up there.

Interestingly, while the Midwest is floating, and the Northeast has been in a critical heat wave, Washington State got a SNOW in the last couple of days! How’s that for an “aha” moment? :)

I’d love to be in those thunderstorms. It’s been on the warm side, but we went down to San Diego today to pick up a person from the hospital adjacent to Torrey Pines Golf Club where the US Open is being played this week. It was a beautiful day there.

    Dee,

It has been blazing hot here in Columbus ever since we moved back three weeks ago. But I’m not complaining. It beats the dickens out of constant the constant grey coolness of Rochester.

Amarillo is windy and parched. That’s not unusual. What’s different this year is that it’s even dryer and windier than normal.

Earlier this week, a grass fire broke out near I-40 in Amarillo. Of course, it reminded everyone of the time when it seemed like the entire panhandle was on fire, two and half years ago.

The conditions are so severe, if it keeps up many farmers in this area could lose their crops. So we’re praying for calm, rainy weather.

Well, we have been in Sturbridge, MA for the heat wave. Let me tell you that it was hot, but not as bad as in the South because the humidity wasn’t as bad. Today we are at Cape Cod and experiencing cooler weather.

It’s 93 here in NE Arkansas, with 40% humidity. It feels pretty warm, but it’s not bad at all in the shade. We go outside in the evenings after 7 or so. The kids play and we visit around, usually, or work on the yard. Not tonight, though-it’s date night for my husband and me!

Wish we would get some thunderstorms and rain, we are in a drought here and it won’t be long till we are back under water restrictions as we get our water from the aquifer. Plenty hot here but windy in the evening so it cools down a bit!

We had days of dry weather here in Central Florida until our usual cure came along - start a week of Bible Camp. Once Camp started, so did our daily afternoon thunder showers.

We’ve been typical Michigan up here. We had two days in the low 90s, a lot of thunderstorms, most days around 80, and from time to time, incredible blue sky.

It is so beautiful up in Detroit this time of year as the gangs come out in their new colors…

I wish you’d send some rain out our way. It has been a blast furnace. Hot, dry and windy. I’ve heard mention that the weather patterns resemble the “Dirty 30’s” of Dust Bowl fame.

Since we are not that far apart, you probably know it’s the same weather here, sigh.

I hate summer. It is way too hot to be outside and we keep all the blinds closed to keep the sun from heating the house. Which it would in spite of the AC and fans all running. It tends to get me depressed, because it gives me a “cooped” up feeling. But…. fall is on it’s way!!!

    Hope gives life, grin.

    God’s Grace.
