Keeping Track of Time

I took my watch off the other day to take a shower and wash my hair and forgot to immediately put it back on. I felt totally lost in an odd sort of way. It felt sort of like being sound asleep where there is no time, but I was wide awake - well, as awake as I get anymore, which isn't very wide some days - and without references to reality.
I started thinking about how many times a day (and night) I look at my watch and/or a clock, either in the house or in the car or somewhere else. It probably ranges in the hundreds of times, I'd say. At least dozens and dozens.
Do you wear a watch? If not, why not?
How often do you look at it (or a clock) during the day - a 24 hour period, do you estimate?
Do you think Americans are overly obsessed with time, or is this a more world wide thing, i.e. especially more technologically advanced countries?
I find this an interesting topic, for some reason. I'm not sure what it means or if it is a problem.
What do you think about all of this today? Comment and let's talk about it!.
Cheers & Blessings to you all today! Dee
The only time I seem to look at the clock is at work when it is close to 5 pm. Does that say something about me?
Of course there are those times I look to see if it is time to eat again! This does day something about me. The something I am trying to change with walking at the mall every day for 2 miles!
Other than those times, I think the only other time I would check the clock is if I am expecting someone to come and they are late!
Have a great day!
BTW, I do wear a watch but I don’t think I look at it all that often! Really haven’t been aware of that until today. Thanks for reminding me!
Some days I look at my watch and am amazed that most of the work day is behind me! Other days it just drags by … but those days are few and far between. I now wear a watch that has the 24-hour markings on it because we have to use 24-hour time on so many of our documents.
I typically wear a watch, and I look at it often. But even when I don’t have my watch on, and haven’t looked at a clock, I can usually guess the time and be within 10 minutes or so. It’s strange.
I wear a watch and I’m constantly looking at it. But then I do enjoy the times when I’m wearing a watch but I don’t feel the need to look at it. Then I just look at my cell phone.
I used to wear a watch but the battery died (over a year ago!) and I have yet to replace it. I am definitely a clock watcher, though, and am very well aware of what time it is most times of the day.
I do with I was less this way. I spent 7 weeks in Brazil one summer, and they are so opposite. They are so much more laid back, and it is nothing to be an hour late to something there. When I came home, I was much less stressed about time, but I have fallen back into my old habits. Good topic for today!
I look at a clock often during the workday, either on the phone or computer, but not so much the rest of the time.
I don’t often wear a watch because sometimes it irritates the skin on my wrist, or it’ll just get in my way. (Same reason i don’t like to wear bracelets.)
But I always have my cell phone on me and use it’s clock whenever necessary.
I don’t wear a watch, see no need for one, got one on the computer,
have ya ever thought what would happen if all the clocks were all gone, what would happen?
I refer to my watch very often but reading the above made me think of an old joke. When someone who was not wearing a watch was asked the time, the answer was “Two hairs past a freckle”. :o)
A dear friend of mine received a very nice self-winding watch when he retired. One Sunday night in the men’s restroom he was standing next to our worship leader who happened to have on the same watch. The worship leader was a little uncomfortable about this older gentleman looking down at him in that particular situation until the old man said, “Is that a (he told the make) self-winding watch?” Our worship leader replied that it was. The old man said, “I was given one of those when I retired, but I don’t move enough these days to keep it wound up.”
I do wear a watch, but as Jel mentioned, look at the clock on the pc more often, since I work on it.
Most of the time escapes me because I am so busy and then wonder where time went??? 24 hours often seems too little in a day, but… we are as busy as we make ourselves, huh?!
I think it’s everyone all around the world. I know in the Netherlands everyone is racing against the clock as well. Sometimes life seems to go by way too fast. We need to take time to stop and smell the roses as well.
God’s Grace.
That was a good one Marilyn, I havn’t heard that in a very long time.
y’all have a good weekend!
oh and this brings to mind , the song
“TIME IN A BOTTLE” avery good song!
I have a watch. Actually, I have two, but doesn’t keep correct time. I don’t wear one every day since I retired. As a matter of fact, I tend to only wear one when I’m going out, more as a piece of jewelry than a timepiece. I do, however, nearly always wear my watch to church………..I guess to keep track of how wordy Phil is being!!
Since I managed to put my mother’s watch that I inherited through the washing machine in the pocket of my jeans (I used to take it off while doing the dishes and put it in my pocket), I haven’t felt inclined to wear another watch. I probably own another 5, all in need of repair or battery. But I just use my cell phone, and find I look at it much less than I used to consult a watch and yet am just as “on time” as I was when watch watching constantly.
I am trying to enjoy and cherish every second I have and make the best memories I can with those I love. I believe that God gives us the gift of time and how we uese it can be such a reward for us and others.
