You new Mac looks great. I still use PC and have always been very happy with my setup. I have never used a Mac but have always been told by my “Mac friends” they are great. My system is only a few years old so I know I won’t be changing any time soon. I’m happy for you and “Way to go Tom”!!

We still have snow from the 25th and the 27th and are expecting more tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow we are supposed to be at 0 degrees, with 35-40mph winds and a wind chill factor of -35 degrees. Brrr!!!!

We've had an iMac for about 3 years now, and we love it. It's easy to use, and we never have any crashes or have to shut down. I do occasionally have to "force quit" something when the color wheel pops up, but that only takes a few seconds. Congratulations! Tom must be one smart guy. :-) You'll really love it once you get it all set up. I'm left-handed, too, but I do most things except eat and write right-handed.

I don't have a Mac but wish I did.
Here in the beautiful Sunshine State, highs in the 40's and lows in the high 20's!

Welcome to the iMac World. You will love it and the day will come that the PC will 'no longer have a hold on you'. You know my feelings. I have had a Mac since they were introduced to us in 1984 at a spectacular company meeting in Cupertino, CA. We also got a peek at the fascinating Super Bowl Commercial that ran only once, but has been shown many times since as one of the all time 10 best commercials, but I digress. I had to work on a PC for 8 and 1/2 years when we moved to the mountains and struggled with it the whole time. The Mac is so much easier to use and understand.

As for central CA, it is foggy/dreary/cold here - only in the high 40's. I hear it is nice on the coast, but that is typical in this region. Stay warm and I certainly agree that Tom is One in a Million.

PS Cold at night (low to mid 40s) and beautiful during the day ... mid 70s to low 80s. But we've had some cold days and colder nights.

I replied to this earlier from my iPhone but, alas, it never made it to your comment section. If only I could remember the brilliance behind that initial comment???

Congrats on the Mac. To answer your question: You will eventually let the PC go and never miss it. You can enlarge the type on the screen and you can either get a new photo editing software for Mac that you'll love more than Photoshop or you can run Parallels, which allows you to run both Mac and PC software on your Mac. You can switch back and forth rather seamlessly between the two. We have Parallels on our office Macs because our Funeral One software (for all the memorial packages and DVDs we produce) is Windows based.

As for Tom ... what a guy!!!

I bought Kami a MacBook for her birthday last month. She loves it. Now both of my kids and my wife own Macs. I could if I wanted to, but my 17 in HP laptop is still fairly new and going strong... plus I spend my extra money on guitars.

As for cold, I didn't escape it when I came south to St. Louis for NCYM. It got up to 16 or so here and they say snow is coming in Wednesday night. Back in Detroit? About the same except is it already snowing.

Oooh, welcome to the wonderful world of Macs!! I switched a little over 2 years ago and haven't regretted it once. Don't miss my PC one little bit.

BTW, N. Alabama is chilly, too... High temp today is supposed to be 31, with a low of 13 (it's 19 degrees out now). They're even calling for a chance of snow on Thursday and Friday.
