I’ve decided that today shall be “Question Day” here at Finding Direction. You ask me questions and I’ll answer. Any subject/topic, full of meaning or meaningless, things that have really been bugging you about me/us/the “fam” that you don’t know, but would like to know, anything philosophical or educational that you think I might have an answer to, anything at all!
Tell you what – if I don’t have, can’t find an answer for you, I’ll do some research to try to do so or pass your question along to someone who does have an answer for you, how about that?
In exchange (to be fair here, you understand), I’ll ask y’all a question. Just one. Okay, more than one. Y’all know I can’t stop at one question, after all. There’s too much of a journalist left in me. I always want to know the who, what, where, when and how (and/or why).
So, enlighten me a bit. I could use some enlightening this morning, I’m telling ya.
Where are you coming by here from, i.e., what state, town, country, place? I’m just curious about how you’ve ended up here at Finding Direction, how long you’ve been dropping by and for what reasons. In other words, tell me a bit about yourself, even if you wish to remain anonymous.
That’s it!
So, let the commenting begin. If you’ve never commented before, all you have to do is fill in the first box with your name, or pseudonym, or “Anonymous,” and the second box with your email address (which will not show on here, but only verifies to me alone that you’re a “real” person. The third box, which says URL, is only for those of you who have a website address you wish to post. If you don’t have a website or don’t wish to reveal it, to comment just leave your/a name and your email address, which comes only to me. That’s it! It’s simple.
Can’t wait to hear from you with your questions and revelations about yourselves.
Cheers! And many blessings to you today! Dee

Wow, Dee… I’ve been coming here a while; I don’t know how long. How long have you been blogging? I used to go to the GraceNotes blog too (is that still running?) but when you became more regular on this one, made this my primary stop for you. Hmmmm… I’m thinking it’s been 5 years or more; I think I was reading/commenting while still living in Nebraska, then in CA, and now in Huntsville, AL.
Questions? How about your favorite color to wear and to decorate with… oh, and your favorite fiction book?
Hey, Karen -
Thanks for your answers about yourself and for your questions.
I HAVE been blogging a little over 5 years, now. I began the middle of Feb. 2005. You WERE living in Nebraska then. I shut down Grace Notes a couple of years ago because I couldn’t get any of my authors to keep supplying material for it. I was saddened to have to shut it down because I loved the stories that those on my panel wrote.
My favorite color to wear? I like red a lot and wear several shades of red because it makes me feel bright and cheery. I like bright colors in general, leaning towards reds, greens and blues.
My favorite colors to decorate with are greens, from teal green to lighter blue greens, running toward aqua. I like the colors of the sea and decorate with sea greens and sandy colors. I’ll have to post some recent photos of our house. It is all in colors of the sea and sand.
I get the magazine “Coastal Living” and it pretty much sums up my decorating colors and style. Pick one up and browse through it (take it, if you like coastal living!) and you will see exactly what I’m talking about. I started getting Southern Living again this month, but Coastal Living is more me.
My favorite fiction book? My all time favorite fiction book is Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone With the Wind.” I’ve read it several times and seen the movie many times and love them both, more each time I read/see them. I think Clark Gable was the PERFECT Rhett Butler!
I read a good biography of Margaret Mitchell recently and I’ve read several great biographies of Clark Gable over the years. I used to dream of marrying someone exactly like Rhett Butler and think I did with Tom!! He’s definitely MY Rhett Butler dream man!!
Thanks for the questions and response, Karen!
You already know all that stuff you mentioned about me, I think. Let me see………..something you don’t know about me…………I’m terrified I’m not going to have the stamina to hold out to do my new job. Yesterday was ENDLESS, and I ached in places I didn’t know I had places! They are nice people and it’s a wonderful opportunity for ministry. I’m pretty much of a weenie, I guess!
I THINK you, Janice, and I are about the same age, but I am curious about that, if you don’t mind telling me. I’m 61.
A tall Texan here. I stop by on a regular basis to read because you do such a great job posting.
I’ve been coming by for a few years — maybe longer. I found you from your comments on other blogs. As for why I come by, I guess I could say a guy could always use good, faithful friends and that’s what you are to us.
As for questions… is it wrong to pray that global warming would just hurry up and GET here already?
I’m a long time visitor from Central Florida as you know. I think I discovered you through Greg. I’m a young pup of 51 years of age.
Lets see – a question for you?
Who was your favorite “Gilligan’s Island” character?
Ooooh, o-o-ooh – Lots of great info and questions! Yea!
To Judy (Meowmix)- First, as to being “terrified” about your new job. You say you had an “endless” day, yesterday, yet it DID end. Each day that comes will do so, as well. Soooo-o-o-o . . . just work ONE day at a time and see how it goes. I’m sure you can work just one day, right? Even with the aches and pains, right? Well . . . that’s all you have to work! One day AT A TIME.
Try it for a while and see whether your high points in each day outnumber your low points. As long as you are keeping a “positive” balance between the two you are coming out ahead. (And I learned this from the unbeatable, intuitive, terrific Tom Andrews, who has worked nearly every day of his life since he was a very young boy!)
As for your question about my age – You WOULD have to ask it today, just 2 short days after my latest birthday. Up until 2 a.m. Tuesday morning I was a “mere” 64. But, now I have crossed that great crevasse into “OLD AGE!?!” Alas! I am now a whopping 65 year old woman with an 88 year old mother who says, “You think YOU’RE old – how would you like to be the mother of a 65 year old?!”
Then my daughter, Rebecca, trying to cheer me up (yeah, right) says, “Well, actually, you’ve already LIVED your 65th year, so you are really starting on 66.” Tom sadly told her, “Rebecca – I don’t think that helped your mom.”
Cheers, Judy (Meowmix)! And keep stopping by.
Dee
Trey – Being a Texan myself, I LIKE tall Texans! Especially when they are “tall, dark & handsome” – and young – like you, Buddy!!
I also like slightly older “tall, dark (once-upon-a-time) & still handsome Biloxi, Mississippian’s like Tom Andrews, which works out well since he is definitely my BETTER half!
And thanks for the “great job posting” comment. That certainly makes my day, and I NEED something really positive to make my day today. It’s quite a sad one, actually.
Dee
Patrick – I think you and I started blogging within weeks of each other, dear friend. I was led to your blog by David Underwood, who thought your posts even then in the beginning would cheer me as I was going through a rough time. They did and I have become one of your biggest fans ever since!!
As for your question about praying “that global warming would just hurry up and GET here already,” I think that is a highly commendable prayer. The question to that really is, “To WHOM are you praying,” as we all know that the great Al Gore “created” and/or “invented” both the internet AND global warming. So, I would think that to be successful in your prayers, you would have to reach the “Great Al Gore” to have him undo all of the havoc he has apparently created with the frozen Tundra of the North, Michigan, and in particular, the Detroit area.
Cheers!
Dee
P.S. I SHALL be your faithful friend from now on, so never count me out, ya hear?! I’m even plotting and planning right now to make arrangements to meet you when you come to south Mississippi in a couple of weeks!!
Cecil – Last here, but certainly not least.j
First – it’s absolutely disgusting that you are ONLY 51 years old, my young man! You should be quite ashamed for flaunting that before your elders (and “eldresses?”)
Anyway, whatever – I think my favorite “Gilligan’s Island” character was Gilligan, since I feel I AM Gilligan most days! That make sense?
Who was YOUR favorite character?
Later, y’all!
Dee
I began reading your blog a year ago this month. I found you on Patrick and Greg’s blogs and like you and your writing right off the bat. Then we became friends on FB and the rest is history. You know where I’m from since you have my address and phone number.
I’m just wondering when we are going to get together for some good visits and good food!
My question is…when did you retire from practicing law and what was your most memorable case?
Oh, and Coastal Living is a very nice magazine and last but not least you look great!
No questions from this southern California guy, but a comment on your use of “Coastal Living” for decorating your home. We used a couple of magazines for decorating our house as well, and it worked out great. Actually, three magazines: Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend, and Knuckleheads!
Greg – I can only GUESS as to the results!!
Perhaps you would care to share with us photos of your home. I will get our camera out and ready to “survey” our domain if you shall be so kind as to photograph yours.
Gotta go for now as Tom is at work dealing with employee troubles.
Love you guys!
Dee
ya got an Ozark hillbilly here, that comes by to see what ya are up too!
how long has it been , a few years
huggs
Dee, I think I have been reading your blog for about 2 years now. I know I was reading yours before I started blogging. I found you through comments on the blogs of mutual friends – I think we are all somehow connected through John Dobbs!
For those who don’t know me, I am an ex-South African Australian, and a fairly new Christian (8 years now). We have been in Sydney for 23 years.
Question – do you know an Irene Dodds in Picayune? I mail out a missionary prayer letter for friends in Istanbul and there is only one person in the USA on the list – and she is in Picayune!
I was a Maryann guy.
Hey, I finally posted a blog after a 30 day break. Take care.
Gilligan’s Island? I’m w/ Cecil. Definitely a Mary Ann guy. She was far more of a “10″ than Ginger. And Mrs. Howell isn’t even in the running for looks. Now, as far as characters go, you gotta admire an English professor who could make a working radio out of coconut shells!
I correct myself (after a quick trip to Google) … the “professor” was actually scripted to be a high school science teacher because he was too young to have obtained three college degrees. So I suppose a high school science teacher could certainly have made a radio out of coconut shells.
Dee, Thursday night was infinitely easier than all day Wednesday was, and all day yesterday was easier than Wednesday was. Bone tired but smiling!
