Photos Are Entered, Let the Judging Begin

August 16th, 2010 · 7 Comments · Blogging, Finding Direction Contests, Humor, Photos, Videos

Okay, all righty.  You guys did great.  Had close to 60 photos entered into the contest by last night (someone, who’s initials are Greg, had a very last minute entry, but beat the deadline) and now the judges must get busy to pick some winners.

What fun ahead.  But, lots of work go into judging, so it will be a few days before the winners are announced and a grand prize given.  (Really – this year there IS a real grand winner’s prize!)

For one thing, moi must have a second cataract surgery on Thursday, to enlighten my vision so I can see better – bright and clear, as I can now see out of my already operated on left eye.  It’s quite a difference, I’m tellin’ ya!  And, I was really apprehensive about having it done, too.

Because of the work involved in getting the winning photos ready for publication and all, and the distractions, like surgery Thursday, I’m not going to give you a definite day yet for when the winners shall be posted.  We’ll see . . . hopefully sooner than later, but I’ll let y’all know.  Keep checking.  It will be worth your wait to see some of the fantastic entries!

In fact, I think that even after all of the winners of the different categories are announced and published, I’ll share some of the other entries with you, too, along as I write my columns here in the future.  Let you see what talent there is amongst you readers and commenters.  I like featuring photos on each column and now have a huge selection to choose from in sharing them with you all.  When I do, I’ll share who the photographer is, so you will get full recognition.

That’s it for today.  It’s Monday; laundry day; getting caught up from laundry not finished from last Monday day; getting ready for the coming busy week day.

What’s your day and week shaping up to be?  Share with us!

Cheers!  And many blessings to each of you today!!  Dee

You gotta admit, that last minute submission definitely says “Summer”!

  • Dee Andrews

You’re ABSOLUTELY right about that, Greg! Wow! What a summer punch in the gut THAT photo was.

Tom & I haven’t stopped laughing yet. But . . . I’m not sure about posting it on my blog, as worthy as it may be. I’m more inclined to perhaps just “describe” it a bit in passing.

Still . . . it was worth the entry. You may just win a prize for it without anyone else seeing it!!

How’s the week shaping up? If it goes like this all week, it’ll be a total disaster.

Headed out for an 8:00 meeting at the office, which apparently was too complicated to do my email – so I spent 10 minutes answering two questions, and was then able to get on the road for Mobile.
Arrived in Mobile just after lunch, launched my email to learn that the project I came here for has been moved to October. Not that I’m terribly bummed out – there are some good seafood joints in Mobile, and I can always stop at The Shed on the way home.
So, I guess I’ll spend the rest of the week cleaning out my VERY overloaded email inbox, and catching up on other stuff while I wait for the boss to swing by on Wednesday, then head back home on Thursday – to a wife “grieving” the loss of another child to the college dormitory on Sunday (two down, two to go!).

I started the week by feeding the homeless in Detroit. Today, I did a funeral today for a 19 year old girl killed in a motocross accident. Tomorrow morning, I will stand in court beside a young man who seems determined to flush his life away, giving support to his mother and father and showing them some love. I’m hoping things ease up a bit. Still, I have time to pray for you and your surgery, Dee. And to make room in my garage for the grand prize…

Well Dee…I had intended to send in some more photos, but alas, life had other plans for me. That’s ok, I will enjoy looking at the others. I love looking at pictures.

Praying your surgery goes well and you will soon be singing “I Can See Clearly Now.”

Can’t wait to see great pics from other photographers.

I hope all goes well with your second surgery.
