My Profile

 Attorney; Former Community Editor & Journalist;
Author, "The People Have the Power"

I am Dee Ann Davidson O’Neil Andrews, Esquire by rights, but few people call me that.

Dee Ann Davidson was the name I was given at birth.

Dee Ann O’Neil was my married name for nearly 24 years when I had my three children, David, Rebecca and Mark, and raised them.

Dee Ann Andrews, or Mrs. Thomas P. Andrews, is my married name now.   An interesting note about that is that years ago when I was Community Editor for the newspaper here, the vast majority of the older women whose pictures I took for various club activities, mostly, wanted to be referred to and written up in the newspaper by their married husband’s name, not their given name, and certainly not by "Ms." anything!

Dee O’Neil Andrews, Esquire is my formal name as an attorney.

Dee Ann is what my oldest friends and family often call me out of habit from long ago.

Dee is what most people call me today, except for those younger, which now includes about 99% of the population of the earth, I think some days.
For those, it’s Miss Dee or Mrs. Andrews (ugh!), but mostly Miss Dee, which I like.  It’s a genteel southern way of not saying old lady.

I shortened Dee Ann to Dee because when I say my name as Dee Ann Andrews, it sounds as if I’m stuttering!

Someone asked me once what "Dee" was an alias for.  I never did figure that one out.

"Ol’ Dee" is what the young 23 year old reporter called me when I was about 33, much "older" than he at the time and the Community Editor for the Picayune Item in Picayune, Mississippi, not to be confused with the  Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans.

Counselor is what my dad called me the last 8 years of his life everytime he heard my voice or saw me, always saying, Hel-llloo, Counselor!

Mom is what my kids call me and Babe is what Tom calls me.

Grandma Dee is what all the grandkids call me.  Tom and I have 13 of them and 10 are mine(!?!), if you can believe that little known fact!  I also have one great-granddaughter, now!  What can I say?  They’re my kids!

God calls me His child and I am that for eternity to come.

Most all of those mentioned above love me, so I am called blessed among women.

You can call me any of those names you want, as long as you call me for dinner.

But I prefer just Dee.

And here’s my previous "mug" shot for those of you who don’t know who that "new" gal is!

    Hi Dee,
Email me so I can send you an email. I am not sure if I have your correct one. There is a reason I have not blogged and I would rather tell you about it via email.

    Love you sister!

    Karen
